We plan to spend 2 days traveling from
Raleigh NC to Ellsworth ME via interstate before boarding a ferry
to Nova Scotia. Then we'll tour the bikes around Nova Scotia, the Cabot
Trail, and New Brunswick. Somewhere in the mix will be the
Alexander Bell Musuem, the Newport mansions, plus a ride through the
Amish country near Lancaster PA, and a lot of seafood.
Total of 9 1/2 days and around 3200 miles.
The Route
Reservations
Since the Cat Ferry from Bar Harbor ME to Yarmouth NS highly recommends reservations and I was worried about accomodations near the Cabot Trail so we ended up making reservations for all but one night.
What to take
The weather will vary wildly from Raleigh to coastal New England and Nova Scotia in early July and almost certainly provide rain, so I will go prepared with Hein Gericke Kenya jacket and liner and with HT Overpants (liner removed) overshorts or Jeans with waterproof boots.
I want to have access to email while on
the road and take a boatload of pictures so electronics are in the
plan. I plan to take my PDA cell phone, and two digitals
cameras. Of course, tools are always in the plan for a trip of this
length.
